Delphinium carolinianum ssp. virescens = Delphinium virescens. Note the long `spur` on the flower from which the name larkspur is derived. A native wildflower sometimes included in weed books due to the fact that it is toxic to livestock. Flowers may be blue or whitish in this species. A very similar southwestern species is Delphinium scaposum, which can be distinguished by its naked flowering stem.
