A herbarium search in 1991 turned up goatsrue in Nebraska although it was previously thought to occur only in one county in Utah. The 1999 Synthesis of the North American Flora shows it in 10 states and one Canadian province. The racemes of pink-purple flowers form narrow pods about an inch long. Note the narrow projection of the mid-vein from the leaflet tip. Currently a federal noxious weed, report any sighting of this species to your state Department of Agriculture.
