Description

A very robust annual or biennial thistle, 2 to 6 feet tall. The dark green leaves mottled with milky white veins from which the plant gets its common name (it does NOT have milky juice!). The heads of dark purple flowers subtended by very large, sharp spines. Occasionally cultivated as a medicinal herb.
